Summary/Objective

The Operations Manager is responsible for owning, leading, developing, improving, optimizing and overseeing the company’s Operations systems, procedures and policies to meet the overall operational goals of the company.

While leading the production, distribution, logistics and provincial operations leaders and the teams, this role will set the pace and direction for his teams and cross-functional teams across the company. This role builds high-performing teams while developing and institutionalizing standards of practice. Success in this position requires innovation and experimentation, as well as great skill working collaboratively across groups toward a common goal.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

General:

Tasks

·       Develop production schedules and maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products

·       Hire, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques

·       Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, production systems and methods of work

·       Plan and manage the establishment of departmental budget

·       Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations

·       Establish and conduct quality control programs, operating procedures and control strategies

·       Co-ordinate, assign and review work

·       Assess business opportunities and develop strategies

·       Ability to supervise large teams

 

More specifically the following:

·       Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs and evaluates the organization’s operations function and performance.

·       Leads Branch Managers and middle managers to ensure that processes, training, and quality of output of goods and services reflect the established standards. 

·       Prepares and reviews monthly P&L and WOR with Operations Supervisors and makes necessary adjustments to ensure operation meets business and budget goals.

·       Oversees all aspects of supply chain providing leadership in inventory management, warehousing and transportation of materials & finished goods for the entire company.

·       Ensures effective collaboration and coordination between departments and implements effective communication systems, leading by example and through sharing of information.

·       Supports the accomplishment of strategic objectives that promote the value of operational excellence.

·       Collaborates with leadership and teams to identify process gaps and translates findings into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training and continuous improvement opportunities within and across Operations that directly impact the client experience.

·       Manages multiple projects ensuring the delivery of SOP’s, training, quality, alignment of strategic business plans, meeting the required timeframes, and supporting individuals and teams through change.

·       Plans and coordinates resources to support continuous improvement, training, process improvement to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

·       Maintains and grows existing relationship with internal and external stakeholders while dealing with the general public, customers, associates, and government officials with tact and courtesy.

·       Supports the continual evaluation of programs through evaluation metrics proactively managing risk and opportunity; inclusive of financial, governance, legal and compliance, human resources, public accountability; and implements innovative and integrative solutions to risk management challenges.

·       Identifies new business opportunities and conducts business expansion planning.

·       Establishes and maintains strong internal controls and procedures.

·       Evaluates the Operations team structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with training, motivation and guidance for professional and personal growth opportunities.

·       Develops learning resources and tracks impacts of consistent workflow and processes on the team.

·       Works in compliance of Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.

Qualifications

·       MBA in business Administration with minimum 10 years’ leadership experience.

·       8+ years’ multi-unit operations experience with at least 1 year experience in food, produce or flower industry.

·       Strong background and understanding of perishables and logistics industries.

·       Excellent leadership and collaboration skills; proven ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships across diverse groups and levels.

·       Demonstrated ability to lead through complex change and transformation.

·       Proven ability to drive sustainable, measurable, and profitable growth, through rigor around operating KPIs and metrics.

·       Strong operational knowledge of AutoCAD is mandatory.

·       Working knowledge and experience in Microsoft Project.

·       Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.

·       Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees.

·       Very strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, able to identify issues, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate changes.

·       Continually seeks process improvements and efficiencies; initiates new ideas to increase overall team effectiveness; committed to self-development and sharing best practices.

·       Results-oriented and organized, focused on producing high quality work within tight timelines.

·       Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

·       Technologically savvy and able to demonstrate competence in a variety of technological platforms and processes.

·       Strong ability to multi-task and effectively manage work requirements with high attention to detail.

·       Proven track record of improving operational performance and processes.

·       Proficiency in both verbal and written communication in Spanish is mandatory.

Supervisory Responsibility

           ·       Acts as a Head of Department, Operations of the company.

Work Environment

Office environment with regular desk duties with exposure to:

           ·       sitting at length;

           ·       computer usage requiring manual dexterity for typing and visual concentration on screens.

Occasional travel required.

Expected Hours of Work

           ·     This is a regular full-time position with 40 hours of work in a week with a requirement to work hours                    beyond minimum threshold to champion the leadership of the department.

MERCHANDISER

This role will be responsible for merchandising activities such as sales, freshness rotation, display set up and maintenance, cooler stocking/rotation, storage room organization and movement of product from storage to the sales floor, customer relationship building etc. 

Bouquet Maker

This role will be responsible for creating flower bouquets by selecting and organizing the stems following a recipe.

General Labourer

The position of General Labourer is responsible for all aspects of warehouse functions including the co-packing, labeling, sorting, receiving, storing, handling, shipping and preparing of product for customer delivery while maintaining the warehouse in a safe and orderly fashion.
